The Prescott Golf and Country Club - Jeff and Jessica Hall, the owners at Prescott Golf & Country Club, Jeff is the general manager and Jessica is the Controller. Jessica is also the Controller for Laser Gifts in Prescott and an Adjunct Faculty at Yavapai College.
They owned the golf course since April 2011, four years. Now, Jeff is 31 and Jessica is 27 years old. They have 2 boys, Aaron 4 and Rory 3. They both attend Yavapai College Family Enrichment Center and participate in tee-ball and soccer.
Jeff plays golf regularly, including fundraising tournaments in the community. Jeff and Jessica belong to Prescott Area Young Professionals and the Arizona Business League. PGCC is proud to be a member of the Prescott Valley Chamber, in addition to hosting their annual fundraising golf tournament.
Jeff and Jessica's career highlight was purchasing the golf course in 2011. We knew Jeff's experience in the golf industry and Jessica's business background would be a good team as owners.
Most Memorable Moment at your business: We hosted a Hot Shots benefit tournament right after the Yarnell tragedy. Everyone wanted to help, and we filled up the first tournament so quickly, that we decided to host an afternoon tournament for that same day. We had over 240 players in the tournament. Due to the efforts of the community, all the businesses that donated, and all the individuals who volunteered their time, the tournament and fundraiser was a success, and we were moved by the experience.
Growing the business and the game of golf is definitely our focus currently. Our Head Golf Professional, Joe DeFillips, who is a member of the PGA, has brought some very valuable education and experience to the course. He will be hosting clinics for children and adults, in addition to giving lessons. The focus is not only teaching the skills of the sport, but also the etiquette and improving student's confidence in their game. The PGA supports important programs, like Get Golf Ready and Tee it Forward, which we encourage at our facility.
If you include playing golf, Jeff works 70 hours per week. Jessica works about 50. We try to spend as much time with our boys as we can, they grow up too fast.
Jeff loves fishing, hunting, and of course playing golf. Last week he played in the Sedona Open, he enjoys playing in Mini-Tour events. Jessica loves to travel, including Disneyland, Mexico, and hopefully Hawaii next summer. Jessica is a morning person, Jeff is a night person.
Jessica's first job was at an attorney's office in Phoenix. Jeff's first job was at a golf facility in the north side of Phoenix, Adobe Dam.
Jessica likes music from the 90's. Jeff likes Rap. We most frequently go to Disneyland. Our oldest son first went when he was 3 months old. Our favorite place to go is Hawaii.
Jessica admires people who know how to live life and enjoy it, life can be filled with stress, but you cannot let it weigh you down. Jeff admires people who are sincere and friendly.
Most of our family lives here, including our parents, Tim and Dawn Henrickson and Russ and Sandy Hall. We love having everyone close, and our boys are surrounded by family and friends.
In the summer of 2011, Jeff and I were expecting our 2nd son, and we were undecided on what to name him. Our oldest son is named after Jeff's childhood friend who passed away at a young age, and we always knew we would name our 1st child after Aaron. So, in June of 2011, the US Open was quickly approaching, and we are fans of Rory McIlroy. Jeff and I both like to gamble, so we decided to leave it to chance. We said before the US Open started, that if Rory McIlroy won the open, we would name our 2nd child Rory. Rory McIlroy went on to win by 8 shots, and he set 11 US Open records that weekend. And that is how our son Rory got his name.
We would like to grow the game of golf. We would like to have more new golfers and new people starting to play.
Jessica's parents, Tim and Dawn, have been in business together for 30 years. They have worked alongside each other. They have given us advice over the years and have set a example for how to have a successful marriage and run a business.
We believe that we need to improve the public's relationship with golf, including booking their tee times online, increasing the pace of play, and improving playability of our golf course. We maintain our golf course and staff our shop so that players can have a fun golfing experience, without the pressure of the 'Country Club' environment. Our course is player friendly so golfers can have a fun time, without the frustration.
Jeff and Jessica make it a point to enjoy life; we have an amazing family, a great business, and wonderful friends. We are very blessed, and we do not want to take it for granted.
