This is the first golf watch I have owned and it is definitely a major advantage to have it while playing. It takes a few minutes to find the course you are playing on and then it automatically has all of the information it needs for that course. I found the distance indicators to be very accurate as well.

It has a very audible and clear voice function. It doesn't have to be worn as a watch - the unit can be clipped elsewhere. It also uses a rechargeable battery, which is great - I just leave it plugged in whenever I'm not using it. It's true that there are smartphone apps that have similar functions.

I found that because the display on this was very large and the brightness settings were good, it was actually easier to read this than to read my phone, so it has that advantage. I would imagine that this would also make a great gift for some older golfers who may not use smartphones. almosthappy
