Crude Damage on Tierra Del Sol Golf Course (Golf master Tips) - Some crude damage to a golf course will cost thousands of dollars to repair and workers are determined to find the culprits.
On Tuesday morning, workers discovered one green at the Tierra Del Sol Golf Course in Rio Communities near Belen had more holes than it should. Vandals damaged it overnight, carving male genitalia into the green. Golfers had to maneuver around it.
“I am very disappointed on whoever did it and, at this point, now we’re going to have to play around this mess,” said Charles Apodaca, a golfer at the course.
Not only is it an inconvenience for golfers, but the manager said it will cost about $2,000 to fix.
“It makes our course look really bad,” said Clinton Tabet, manager at Tierra Del Sol. “This is a small town so we really try and pull golfers from Albuquerque, and it’s quite a drive for them. So, when they come out here, they expect the course to be in good shape.”
Tabet said a similar incident with obscene markings took place just last week in another area of the course.
“With roadblocks like this, I mean, it’s hard to deal with,” Tabet said.
While the crew worked to patch up the course with new sod, the course’s head golf professional posted about it on Facebook to find out who did it. Tips and calls started coming in. He now believes a group of teens who live in the area are responsible, and he has reported it to the Valencia County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said the suspects could face a fourth degree felony charge of criminal damage to property.
A neighbor also told KRQE that the vandals struck her home, throwing golf equipment that shattered her windows. (Latest golf news sourceL: KRQE News)
