Holy Cross College’s New Golf Room -  New golf performance facility with a dedication ceremony to commemorate its completion unveiled at Holy Cross College. The new, privately funded facility will be the indoor practice home for Saints men’s and women’s golf teams.

A gathering of administration, faculty, students, donors, and special guests were among those on hand to take part in the dedication of Holy Cross College’s new Golf Room, which includes a state-of-the-art golf simulator.

The ceremony featured remarks by President Brother John R. Paige, C.S.C., Holy Cross Director of Athletics Aimee Niespodziany, Holy Cross Head Golf Coach T.J. Mannen, and Saints golfers, Lauryn Luckey and Joey Medora.

Br. Paige recognized various people who made the training facility possible, including administrators, members of the athletic department, student athletes, special guests, and most of all, the donors.
Following the welcome, Brother John R. Paige, C.S.C. provided a dedication blessing.

Holy Cross College’s student-athletes represent excellence on and off the course and The Golf Room will give them the tools to better compete on a national stage, as well as the tools to help overcome the unpredictability of Northern Indiana’s weather.

“We, as a department, are so excited about the recent addition of this outstanding golf simulator,” notes Athletic Director Niespodziany. “From a competitive standpoint, competing in the Midwest presents a disadvantage due to the weather. With the golf simulator now in place, we are able to overcome that barrier and practice all year round.”

Niespodziany goes on to say, “And, from a recruiting and player standpoint, the equipment is appealing because it allows for practice on campus. Athletes should feel the benefits of this significant investment, and know that the college pursues growth, progress, and excellence for our Saints’ varsity athletics.”

The facility includes a state-of-the-art GC2 golf simulator from Foresight Sports, which represents the most accurate technology available for capturing and reproducing true golf ball flight. Its high-resolution cameras capture up to 10,000 frames per second, while its stereoscopic lens arrangement emulates “human eye” spatial recognition.
State-of-the-art image processing and internal accelerometer allow the launch monitor to truly measure player performance. The industry’s most accurate launch monitor gives the golfer reliable swing and ball flight data, which are essential to game improvement.

These tools provide Holy Cross golfers with instruments needed to become top-notch players and to remain competitive. Saints golfers will be able to improve every aspect of their game—from putting, to driving, to everything in-between.

The Golf Room, which is located inside the Pfeil Recreation Center, gives student-athletes the opportunity to practice year-round in an environment that mimics actual playing surfaces.

“The generosity of our donors and the hard work of so many individuals have made it possible for the college to now have facilities and equipment that match the quality and dedication of our students and coaches,” says Holy Cross College President, Brother John Paige.

Construction began for the new golf training center in May and was completed in late August. (Golf Master Tips article source and author: HCC-ND.EDU)
